PROGRAM'S BACKGROUND

With growing industrialization and urbanization, fire and security departments have gained relevance for maintaining a safe and secure working environment in several establishments. Besides, industries such as the oil and gas industry emphasize on fire safety and security to guard against loss of human and material resources crippling the overall economy, such losses were attributed to the lack of training on fire safety and security measures taken within establishments.

This program is aimed at training learners in both theoretical and practical firefighting skills and techniques, in order to minimize loss of life and property, by extinguishing fires in their early stages. The best method of stopping a fire is to prevent it. The actions taken to control a fire during the first few minutes following its discovery will determine whether it will be contained or will it spread. Should a fire break out, having firefighting systems in place will help save lives and loss of property. This part of the program mainly aims to alleviate preventive awareness of employees working within oil and gas companies in a practical way in addition to instructing them on how to properly use fire extinguishers and different firefighting equipment through a simulation of a fire fighting procedure and they will also be introduced to the different firefighting systems.

This program is intended for security personnel in the oil and gas industry, drawing on case studies from around the world, it addresses some of the risks associated with oil and gas operations in various environments and includes many practical exercises. This part of the program covers the principles of security management and operations involved to protect the business and assets. This part covers a wide variety of areas and provides knowledge of the principles of loss and decision making within the security environment. It aims to provide knowledge to those who may be designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of security operations with respect to the security of a facility. Using advanced technology combined with relevant practical experience, this module will teach participants how to recognize potential threats and equip them, if necessary, to respond to security risk situations.
