PROGRAM'S BACKGROUND

This program helps the candidates to have in-depth understanding of structural behavior. This understanding will form a basis for analysis and design of building structures. It will encourage them in using information technology in the design process. Moreover, the candidates will obtain the ability to choose and adapt calculation models and appropriate methods on basis of in-depth understanding of the physical behavior, properties and limitations of the models and with regard to the actual purpose of the calculations.

PROGRAM'S OBJECTIVES

This Program’s Attendees Will Be More Able To:

›       Give a synthesis of structural mechanics and structural engineering on basis of selected applications

›       Exercise the knowledge gained in the parallel programs in a context

›       Widen the perspective on analysis and design of structural systems

›       Fully understand the role of the structural engineer

›       Comprehend the behaviour of structural members under loading

›       Understand the concept of stress functions like tension, compression, shear and bending

›       Use the basic concepts for analysis of statically determinate and indeterminate structures

›       Analyse deformation of members under loading

›       Understand the significance of material properties in design

›       Undertake basic design of reinforced cement concrete structures

›       Undertake basic design of steel structures
