PROGRAM'S BACKGROUND
The technical management of strategic natural resources such as Oil and Gas reservoirs is a challenging responsibility that confronts operating companies, service companies and government authorities. This is achieved by the establishment of effective multidisciplinary teams, at all stages during the life of a field, extending from exploration, through to the later stages of appraisal, development and production operations. This program is designed primarily for those professionals whose responsibilities during their career will include any of these essential phases of Reservoir Management. With the increasing importance of Integrated Reservoir Management, this comprehensive program will provide a unique opportunity for engineers, whose principal expertise may not be in Reservoir Management, but who need to appreciate the key issues which determine the outcome of a successful development.
The principles of sound reservoir management are presented with emphasis on practical applications. Actual case histories are used to study both successes and failures. An interdisciplinary synergistic approach to efficient reservoir management is detailed with the goal of optimized profitability. The significance of each component and the importance of timing and cost/benefit analysis are emphasized. Reservoir management models for optimum field development and field operating plans are analyzed. The interdisciplinary reservoir management approach shows how each technology or function contributes to the plan and how checks and balances are developed.
